A building on a hidden plot on the former BMT site in Boechout combines a police station with childcare facilities. The site is located in the entrance square to a large new residential development, rather than on a street. The design will have a prominent presence and address on the square and will be embedded within the greenery of the immediate surroundings. The building has a specific and reserved nature but has the appearance of a public building. The architects opted for a design that connects all functions equally to the surroundings and to each other, thus avoiding any juxtaposition. The three building components are situated around a central, triangular patio that continues the surface paving of the access plaza deep into the building. The children can see the police station through low windows; the police can see the children through high windows.
