Club 77 at Schuiferskapelle near Tielt can be summed up perfectly in two words: conspicuously inconspicuous. Thanks to its intelligent form and subtle use of materials, and in spite of its substantial footprint, this community centre succeeds in integrating itself almost inconspicuously into the predominantly rural and residential nature of the street.
Spikkerelle stands in the landscape like a sterile object on the line dividing the built-up village centre from the De Meersen nature reserve. The building looks detached from its surroundings, but is at the same time fully rooted in it, as shown by the sculptural base that is dug deep into the slope of the site.
