The openness the visitor experiences once they have closed the hall door behind them is as uncomplicated as the closed nature of the frontage. The kitchen ceiling is at normal height, and here the house still briefly appears modest, but the upper window in the double-height middle room is so high that the room seems endless. Cuypers & Q have devised a clearly readable home with an intelligent logic, though the design does not offer overly obvious solutions. They designed a house for a family who, in an existing house, would probably never have seen their view of life so literally translated into architecture.
