On 15 September 1010, Fallow and Grue organised a masterclass in De Singel, as part of their project BWMSTR Label 028 Urban Nature. The half-day event aimed to explore how nature and architecture interact in the iconic building of Leon Stynen.
Kicking off at noon with a lunch in the garden, the masterclass participants got to know each other and the masterclass organisers Nathanaëlle Baës-Cantillon, Nadia Casabella, Bert Gellynck and Carmen Van Maercke. The group of approximately 30 people were then divided into three groups according to their interests in fauna, flora and soil. After walking and discovering various spots of De Singel campus, the three groups joined back together to share their findings. Gert De Keyser, director of Stedelijke Natuur in Agentschap Natuur en Bos, joined us during this moment to comment on the groups’ discoveries and expand the discussion to the wider discussion on ecological design.
