The Faculty of Architecture of KU Leuven invites you to the fall 2026 edition of Going Public / November Talks. The programme brings current architectural debates from the faculty’s design studios, courses and research groups into the public realm, while opening up internal discussions to a wider audience.
The lecture presents TAKK’s design methodology through a selection of research and built projects that challenge anthropocentric assumptions in contemporary architecture. Integrating feminist thought, political ecology, and low-embedded-carbon material practices, it explores how critical theory becomes a design tool for questioning inherited spatial paradigms. Through research, experimentation, and construction, the lecture proposes architecture as a practice of negotiating new relationships between humans, other living beings, materials, and environmental systems, imagining more just, regenerative, and multispecies futures.

Kate Davies and Emmanuel Vercruysse, Directors of the Design + Make Master’s Programme at the Architectural Association’s Hooke Park campus (UK), present experimental timber projects developed by students. Set in a 350-acre working woodland, Hooke Park connects forestry, digital design and traditional craft through hands-on, 1:1 design and fabrication. As a living laboratory for interdisciplinary teaching and research, it explores innovative approaches to timber construction, architectural experimentation and ecological forest management, envisioning alternative futures through material exploration and making.

Founded in 2004 by Beate Hølmebakk and Per Tamsen, the Norwegian architecture practice Manthey Kula operates at the intersection of art, architecture and landscape with a production that spans from ideal, explorative projects to public commissions. The work is based not on the study of precedents, but rather on the desire to bring
something of distinct character into existence. It is about presence; and about how things are made, as a careful balance of site, material, structure, and narrative.
