In their new series 'Projections’, the Flemish Architecture Institute and deSingel want to offer a platform for existing design-based research in Flanders. For a couple of seasons we shall be showing the work of architecture students and lecturers and of independent research groups. We shall not be engaging in the debate over design-based research. We are zooming in on the provisional results of this research and will take a direct and open-minded look at actual situations. In our choice of projects we shall take a lead from social topics and/or the issue of the role of the architectural discipline in society. The only essential thing is that the research is relevant to Flanders and is by no means noncommittal.
