Professor in Theory, History and Criticism of Early Modern Architecture

The faculty of Engineering and Architecture from the University of Ghent has a vacancy for a professorship, starting from September 1, 2021.

Assignment

Academic education
You lecture various course units in the discipline of Theory, History and Criticism of Early Modern Architecture within a comprehensive program in architectural design, supported by the technical and scientific knowledge of the engineer and by the historical and theoretical knowledge of the broad context of architecture and urbanism. Teaching assignments will include courses on both Bachelor and Master level, from a survey course on the history of (European/Western) theory of architecture (which is also targeting Art History students), to thematic research seminars and the supervision of master dissertations. We expect candidates to be able to demonstrate their capacity to participate in meaningful ways in design related courses and design studios.

Academic Research
You conduct research in the discipline of Theory, History and Criticism of Early Modern Architecture. We expect this research to be complementary to the ongoing research in the field of Theory and History of Architecture and Urbanism, conducted within the Department. You are expected to develop research collaboration with other units within both the Department and Ghent University, as well as to participate in and set up international research projects and collaborations.

Academic services
You take part in the internal and external service provision of the department of Architecture and Urban Planning.
