STYFHALS ARCHITECTEN I.S.M. BAUMSCHLAGER EBERLE ARCHITEKTEN - ANTWERP

Groepswoningen Nieuw Zuid

Situated along the quays of the river Scheldt, the building is part of the new urban development at Nieuw Zuid, for which the urban master plan was drawn up by Secchi Vigano. Baumschlager Eberle Architects and STYHALS Architects combined their knowledge and experience to create a high-quality building perfectly tuned to its surroundings. The development consists of a high-rise structure on the quay side overlooking the river Scheldt and the city, and a lower structure which makes the connection with the new district. The architects have invested heavily in the architectural quality of the facades and the appearance of the building, which is largely determined by the combination of a simple grey prismatic basic structure with sleek white terraces. This creates fascinating contrasts that refer to the historical architecture of the city. The project’s timeless appeal is reflected in the planning concept, which incorporates maximum flexibility for different interpretations over time.
