REMARKABLE MASONRY draws the attention in this green environment that breathes history. The convent of St Wivina, set in a listed park in Groot-Bijgaarden, was given a new purpose as a residential assisted-living centre. The historically valuable parts of the convent and the chapel were preserved and today offer space for a commercial usage. With its cruciform ground plan and masonry inspired by the details of the old convent, the new construction seeks to tie in with the historical context of the abbey.
