Caring Architecture

How can architecture care for both our planet and its inhabitants? The exhibitions Critical Care. Architecture for a Broken Planet and Care for Space for Care explore what forms caring architecture can take, and what influence this has on the liveability of our environment. A surprising selection of national and international case studies allows you to familiarise yourself in a unique way with building for – and the buildings of – the future. On 27 May both exhibitions will be presented during an opening event at the Flanders Architecture Institute at De Singel.

Twenty years of Flanders Architecture Institute
available now

Last week the Flanders Architecture Institute (VAi) celebrated its twentieth birthday. On the occasion of this anniversary, a creative reflection was initiated on the VAi and the developments in the field of architecture over the last two decades. In collaboration with Harold Fallon (AgwA & KU Leuven), the topic is tackled from past inspirations, to the present situation of architectural culture and the possible future directions of VAi and architecture in a wider scope. The Pamphlet Twenty Years of Flanders Architecture Institute is the result of a chainmail with 33 correspondents and contains textual and visual materials.
