Oasis

De tekst over het project Oasis, Sharjah door Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen is beschikbaar in het Engels:

This project, designed and built for the Sharjah Biennial 11, which opened in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on March 13th 2013. In 'Re:emerge, Towards a New Cultural Cartography', curator Yuko Hasegawa proposes a Biennial that reassess the Westerncentrism of knowledge in modern times and reconsiders the relationship between the Arab world, Asia, the Far East, through North Africa and Latin America. More then 100 artists will present their work, which will include site-specific interventions, film, music and performances. Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen has created a multi-site urban project. The Oasis project links SB11 Biennial venues and the North-East and South-West parts of Sharjah's historic centre which is divided by Bank street, a wide thoroughfare dating from the 1970s. The three Oasis gardens have varying degrees of public accessibility, each creating a dialogue with specific urban contexts and their users.

Dit project werd ons bezorgd door de architecten in functie van de oproep voor het Architectuurboek Vlaanderen N° 11. Architectuur middenin. De tekst werd ons aangeleverd door de architecten.
