VDB sociale woning

VERS.A constructed this rhythmic residential building on the corner of a block in the municipality of Ixelles in Brussels. The narrow plot offered no outdoor space. As a result, the white façades are characterized by a lot of windows that are distributed rhythmically. The windows rest on horizontal concrete lintels that run along the façade at the level of each of the floor slabs. As a variation on this façade structure, the ground floor has a plinth in blue stone on which the windows gently sit. The cornice in turn picks up the trope of the lintels in an exaggerated way. The building seems like a bent Italian palazzo: firm but gracious, and generous to the public.
