ECLUSIER COGGE

The proposal for the construction of a youth centre and social housing reinforces the new urban identity and is an important beacon in the Brabant district. The youth centre is located on the first two storeys and is an open, bright space with a view of the park and inner patio. Internally, all the classrooms are organized around a central hall to ensure that each space benefits from transparency and openness. The houses above are more enclosed and intimate. Architecture and use of materials are attuned to the urban context. On the outside, the brick façade aims to connect to the adjoining neighbours. The building shadows the park and the masonry pattern subtly demonstrates the difference in functions. The youth centre benefits in terms of quality from the central open entrance hall, which allows natural daylight to penetrate into the core of the building and connects the different functions. The absence of circulation ensures that people experience the building as a whole.
