Flanders Architectural Yearbook 2004-2005

Flanders Architectural Yearbook 2004-2005

The seventh edition of the Flanders Architectural Yearbook, a publication of the Flemish Architecture Institute (Vlaams Architectuurinstituut, VAi), came out on 28 June 2006. This yearbook looks back on the architectural developments in Flanders of the two previous years. The latest edition presents a selection of 34 projects in clear project descriptions, richly illustrated with photographs, drawings and plans.

The most striking features of this edition’s selection are the ‘intensive care’ that has been given to these projects and the increasing importance of both the process and of strategies for dealing with limited budgets, tight time schedules and strict requirements. Increasingly, architects are cast in the role of process managers for scenarios that are rarely carried to full completion. Architecture is ‘work in progress’.
